Events in the recession…

Filed under: Uncategorised — jamie @ 10:06 am

As of today, the UK economy is now officially in recession. Many people are now asking what role the event industry has in such in uncertain times. I would argue a very important one…

In such difficult times, with many companies facing tough times it is now more important than ever that staff are motivated and working to the best of their abilities, and keeping the clients you already have is more important than ever.

Many people see the annual staff Christmas party as a ‘bit of a jolly’ but done the right way, this is not the case and in fact the party can have an extremely positive and long term effect on staff. Take for example the quote below from the MD of a company which held its 2008 Christmas Party with Impulse Events at the Grand Hall:

Thanks for organising a great party on Saturday night. I know that it always takes much more effort and care than anyone thinks. I loved the Can Can and the gambling and the band and the food and the venue!

It was great FUN and was much enjoyed by all. I was particularly impressed by the way people from all areas of the business mixed so well and I think that events like this always strengthen a company.

‘Events like this strengthen a company’ and they really can! Done in the right way there is no doubt that the Christmas party can motivate staff and help to integrate new staff members. Instead of a power point presentation telling staff what a tough year its been, a genuine, 5 minute, heartfelt thank you from the MD can really make staff feel valued and secure.

Team Building is also a wonderful way to motivate, integrate and improve communication between team members, and we have several cost effective solutions that can be tailored to your brief and specific objectives. We have expanded our list of venues and activiites in 2009 so that we can offer something for every budget.

To meet the challenges that this new year will no doubt bring, at Impulse Events we are going to work with our clients and industry colleagues to deliver outstanding value for money and the same fantastic quality of event. We are currently working on several joint ventures with our catering partners, preferred venues and suppliers to develop cost effective packages for our clients… a kind of one-stop-shop solution, saving our clients both time and money - two very valuable commodities in the current climate!
